Biography

An unforgettable seductive face of Italian cinema. After winning a beauty contest, she started her acting career when she was just fifteen. She achieved success in the 60s for her ability to combine genuineness with sensuality. She worked with some of the greatest Italian directors, such as Bernando Bertolucci, Luigi Comencini and Mario Missiroli.

Her career, however, had a decisive turning point with Tinto Brass in "The Key" (1983), where the director showed Stefania Sandrelli, close to forty, as a woman with a soft but overwhelming eroticism. She won three David di Donatello Awards, received the Lifetime Achievement Award and six Silver Ribbons.
